Eliud Kipchoge was born in Kapsisiywa, a village located in the Nandi County of western Kenya, a region known for producing many of the world’s best long-distance runners. Raised in a rural environment, his early life was deeply rooted in the traditions of Kenyan village life, which included farming and a tight-knit community. Kipchoge's family was not wealthy, and his parents worked hard to provide for the family. Eliud grew up with a sense of discipline, strong work ethics, and a deep love for nature, which later translated into his passion for running. As a child, Kipchoge often ran long distances to school, which was part of the rural culture in Kenya. This daily routine of running short distances built up his endurance and prepared him for the future. He attended the Kaptagat Secondary School, where he continued to develop his interest in running and participated in school races.
